Nestled on prime riverfront land in the new Elizabeth Quay development of Perth city, the Gusto Gelato Ice Cream Kiosk is literally, a glowing example of the complexity and magic which can be achieved with colour and light when using Vanceva color PVB interlayers. Situated in a highly visible location on the northern bank of the Swan River, the kiosk serves to engage visitors and activate the newly constructed promenade. It is a bespoke project of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority in Western Australia (WA) The form of the building is based on the colour and quality of the Argyle diamond which is unique to WA. The glazing incorporates the Vanceva color PVB interlayers and Cooling Brothers Imagink Printed Glass in toughened laminate and challenging geometry over almost the entire facade. Cooling Brothers collaborated closely with the artist Pamela Gaunt, and the architectural team at Iredale Pederson Hook to integrate the story of diamond processing of rough-cut and cut diamonds. Represented through watercolor drawings, and hard edged geometry, the Vanceva interlayers float within the artwork and around the building to convey a mix of the pink and champagne hues found in the precious stones.

Throughout the day, inside or out, the Vanceva colors creates an ever changing experience for viewers and visitors. The textural ceramic printed artwork reflects the sky by day, simultaneously, a light filled and fun space greets the gelato lover internally, the playful colour acts as a lovely accompaniment to the myriad of tantalising flavours. By night the ice cream kiosk transitions to a glowing pink diamond, showcasing single, double and triple layers of Vanceva color PVB interlayer in six varying combinations of coral rose, smoke grey and golden light.. Depth is created by the varying glass colors which also reflect the vibrant neon hues from the activities of the surrounding Elizabeth Quay precint. From the balconies of the soon to be constructed Ritz Carlton Hotel, approaching by ferry or strolling by, the Gusto Gelato ice cream kiosk is already turning heads and making headlines, and will certainly be a landmark meeting place.
