Saflex S Series Awarded Frost & Sullivan 2012 New Product Innovation Award

Saflex S Series Frost and Sullivan Award

Solutia Inc. is the recipient of Frost and Sullivan's "2012 New Product Innovation Award" in the North American Automotive Glazing Materials category for its innovative Saflex S series solar and Q series solar acoustic PVB interlayers. Saflex S series blocks solar heat transmitted through the vehicle's glazing, which reduces air conditioning A/C) usage and improves vehicle fuel economy and CO2 emissions. Frost & Sullivan determined Solutia has distinguished itself by developing an innovative, drop-in solution for automotive OEMs to utilize in meeting the growing challenge of increasing global fuel efficiency and/or CO2 emissions regulations.

"With fuel efficiency standards intensifying across the globe and in the United States in particular, Solutia's innovative solar-absorbing product is of great significance," noted Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Shree Vidhyaa Karunanidhi. "Since the product can be used across various types of cars, such as gasoline- and diesel-powered, electric, and hybrid vehicles, the penetration potential of the product is immense. It is particularly crucial in electric vehicles to help increase the mile range of the vehicle, addressing a major concern of electric vehicle users."
