Laminated side glass made with Saflex® protective interlayer can reduce wind and road noise by up to 3 dB as compared to tempered glass, while providing a 10% weight savings versus the same thickness of tempered glass. Saflex advanced acoustic interlayer can add to the performance of standard interlayer, increasing noise reduction levels by an additional 2dB.
The acoustical dampening of Saflex interlayer is particularly beneficial in the frequency range of 1200 to 2500 Hz, the frequencies most produced by road and engine noise.
