Comfort: Customers equate quiet with quality. Therefore, noise reduction inside cars and consequently, improvement of acoustic control is becoming one of the main objectives of carmakers. Since the vehicle's glazed surface is continuously increasing, automotive glazing has become a very significant path for noise penetration inside the car. This is where Saflex Q series advanced acoustic PVB can make the difference.

Safety: In addition to meeting all the global standards and norms specified for windshields (ISO, JIS, EU43, and FMVSS 205[ASTM/SAEZ26.1]), glazing with Saflex PVB interlayer can meet or exceed emerging penetration standards for vehicle side window intrusion resistance and occupant ejection mitigation. In addition, our new Saflex Q series Head Up Display (HUD) technology can help keep a driver's eyes on the road, which is tantamount to improved reaction times, and reduced vehicle incidents. Combine these safety needs with the increased popularity of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) technology, and the demand for Acoustic "HUD" technology was born.

Environment: Global environmental regulations, such as the Kyoto Agreement, the European ECE and the new U.S. CAFE standards, set stringent CO2 emissions standards for the automotive industry to meet by 2012. As a result, OEMs are faced with making significant vehicle design changes in a tight timeframe; all without sacrificing the comfort and quality consumers expect. Laminated windscreens made with Saflex^® Q series products can reduce vehicle weight, by allowing the use of thinner glass in the glazing configuration. The typical weight reduction for a standard 2.3/2.3mm windscreen when replaced with a 2.1mm/1.6mm windscreen is 3.5kgs.

Design: Saflex color interlayers provide attractive and cost effective colored laminated automotive glass without traditional thickness or shape limitations. Color-match tinted glass and ensure color consistency in every glass application throughout the vehicle.
